Shiloh by GJ Walker-Smith

Shiloh (Wishes, #6)
*** Standalone Novel***

Here’s what I know about Shiloh Jenson:
She is up to no good.
Every word out of her mouth is a lie.
And I'm madly in love with her.

The call of the sea had always been deafening for Mitchell Tate, which is why Kaimte, a small coastal town in West Africa, was the perfect place for him.

Brilliant surf conditions conjured up by the South Atlantic Ocean was the drawcard, and the laid-back lifestyle suited him to a tee.

But even paradise has a dark side.
When fellow Australian Shiloh Jenson arrives in town, his eyes are opened to a much seedier side of village life.

Shiloh has a hidden agenda, and whether he likes it or not, Mitchell is along for the ride.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Over the time I've been reading her books, I've come to adore GJ Walker-Smith's characters and writing style. When we first met Mitchell as a side character in Saving Wishes I knew he was going to be one to steal a little place in my heart. I've waiting rather impatiently for more from him and it was so worth the wait.

Even though we met Mitchell in a previous book this book can be read as a standalone, I can't guarantee you won't be left wanting more of GJ Walker-Smith's heart touching writing and feel the need to go back and read the earlier books of the series.

Shiloh is a kick arse female and I love strong female characters. In fact I'm thinking my New Years resolution will be - to be kick arse like Shiloh.

This book had heaps of suspense and actually had me guessing right to the end, which is not easily done as I often find Who-Dun-It's predictable.

I don't know what GJ Walker-Smith plans to write next but I do know I'll be first in line to buy it.

Star Promise (Wishes #7) by GJ Walker-Smith

Star Promise (Wishes, #5)
After three blissful years of living in Pipers Cove, Adam and Charli head back to the bright lights of New York.
Taking on a position at a Manhattan gallery turns out to be Charli’s dream job, but just a few weeks after starting at his father’s firm, Adam realises that practising law is his worst nightmare.
Biding his time is the plan. Charli has wanderlust in her soul and he’s hopeful that sooner or later, she’ll want to go home.
Riding it out isn’t hard. They’re as close as they’ve ever been and every spare minute is spent hanging out with their precious little girl.
Life is good – until it’s not.
When fate throws them one nasty curveball after another, Charli’s confidence is shattered and her heart is broken. After weeks of trying to make sense of the grief she’s feeling, both realise she’s out of her depth.
Getting out of Dodge is Charli’s preferred MO and she doesn’t disappoint, finally deciding that it’s time to leave New York.
Returning to Pipers Cove is not the quick fix they were hoping for.
Some things just can’t be mended, and the way she deals with that is going to change everything.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Star Promise is the beautiful end to the most magical series I've ever read. GJ wraps everything up with nice little bow. I adore GJ Walker-Smith and her characters. I've followed Charli through her journey from the very beginning and I have loved every minute of it. I'm sad to see it end and secretly hope we'll see more from the Wishes world in the future... Psst, GJ, Alex is my favourite. ;)
Jean-Luc has been one of the hardest characters to like, always berating Charli for her tales and calling them none sense. He finally won me over in this story, which is good because I didn't want to hate him forever.
Adam had won me over in Secret North, because I was never a fan of him either, his early Jerk tendencies had stuck with me. It was so nice to see him win me over again in Star Promise. Star promise runs during the timeframe of Secret North. It was great to finally see what was bothering Charli and Adam through that time.
I've loved this series immensely and look forward to whatever GJ decides to write next.

Review

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

GJ captured my heart with these characters over a year ago when I read the first book in this series, Saving Wishes. I have waited anxiously for each new release and she never disappoints me.

I adore Alex, he is a true gent with a heart of gold. There is nothing he wouldn't do for the ones he loves. I was so happy to be back when I heard we were getting more Alex and Gabi.

description

During this novella Alex's faith in the magic he taught Charli over the years fails him when he needs it most.

description

Charli arrives back where it all started ready to meet her little brother but she gets more than
she bargained for, she has to hold Alex together. Like he has done for her many times over the years.

description

I have always felt loved the relationship between Charli and Alex. The reversal of roles to a degree make it all the more beautiful in this book. Alex really struggles in this book, he's no longer the down to earth Aussie surfer, he's an emotional mess.

This novella had me in tears numerous times, sad and happy tears. I love the magic GJ weaves into her books, she is one of those rare gem's of an author, that once you find her books you will never want to miss them.

Secret North (The Wishes Series #4) by GJ Walker-Smith

Secret North (The Wishes Series #4)

Ryan Dรฉcarie could literally charm the pants off anyone. It was his biggest talent and his biggest downfall.
When he crosses paths with Bente Denison five long years after breaking her heart, sparks fly.
Trying to convince her that he’s finally ready for something more serious isn’t easy – and the reason why is simple.
He’s never had anything serious.
Totally clueless when it comes to meaningful relationships, Ryan’s in dire need of guidance, and it comes from the most unlikely source imaginable – his four-year-old niece, Bridget.

Review
My rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

I was super lucky to get an early copy of Secret North.
I have adored Ryan from the minute he showed up in Second Hearts. This story was another fantastic addition to the series. Ryan and Bridget's relationship is a beautiful one.
GJ Walker-Smith always manages to spin a magical tale, I don't know how she does it. She made me laugh, cry and be inspired. She even converted me to an Adam Lover, which is no mean feat. Secret North was just perfect. It is Secret North.

Storm Shells (The Wishes Series #3) by GJ Walker-Smith

Storm Shells ย (The Wishes Series, #3)Storm Shells by G.J. Walker-Smith
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was so lucky to receive an ARC of this beautiful book.

GJ Walker -Smith is the bomb. Storm Shells was everything I could have wished for and more. It's taken me a good 15 hours after finishing to be able to even contemplate a review that will do it justice. I still don't know how I will do that.

Synopsis:
"The only way to move forward was to go back to the very beginning….
After three miserable weeks without Charli, Adam makes the decision to follow her, desperately hoping to find a way of following through on his promise of a happy ending.
He finds her back in Pipers Cove, healing her broken heart by spending time with the one person who never lets her down.
Both know nothing has changed. They're desperately in love, hopelessly stuck in limbo, and unable to find common ground.
When fate offers them a chance at a different kind of ending, it’s a one-shot deal. Running with it means changing their plans – something neither of them has ever been willing to do before, even for each other.
Just as one begins to find their way, the other completely loses direction – and neither of them realise that time is running out."

Second Hearts left us with Charli and Adam in different countries and no HEA in sight. Storm Shells picks up where we were left off. We get a nice flash back to Charli's childhood years, where we get to see who she gets her fairy stories and saving wishes ideas from. We get to see the relationship between Alex and Charli and know what we know about their relationship now made it all the more sweeter.

I loved everything about this book, I laughed out loud so many many times I lost count. GJ also made me cry quite a few times too.
Charli was he wonderful self, I love all her fairy stories. I am left wishing I was brought up with those. I'd love to live in La La Land.
Adam, where do I start with Adam. I yoyo'd between wanting to punch him when he was being a super duper ass, and wanting to kiss him when he was being wonderful.

I was so happy to get to spend a little time with Ryan, there has always been something about Ryan that captures a piece if my heart, maybe it's just because I can see he needs someone's heart. I'm secretly hoping we will eventually get a Ryan book. Pretty please GJ, with a cherry on the top.

Now my favourite man in the world, Alex. I just love Alex, he's sweet, funny and wise... And oh so yummy. He's only 8years older then me so there is nothing wrong with me falling for the father of the heroine. Lol.. He made me laugh so much throughout this book, the bogan golf.. See I said he was wise, who else would come up with something like that?
He also squeezed my heart with his words.

GJ Walker-smith deserves a big award for this beautiful story, she is an amazing writer. I opened the first page and couldn't put it down until I had finished and then I wanted to start it all over again. I totally Los all chances of winning the mother of the year award because I totally ignored my kids for the day.. Hey they got fed, that has to get me something right?

Everyone needs to but this book. I can't wait to get my hands on a paperback copy. I'm looking forward to reading more from GJ, especially Alex's story that I know she is working on..

I'll leave you with my favourite quote from the Storm Shells.. After telling you one more time, to buy this book as soon as it's released on November 25.

“I’ve jumped out of a tall tree this time, Alex,” I muttered.

He finally smiled, though it had a rueful tinge. “I’m standing at the bottom of it, Charli. You’ll be fine.”

Second Hearts (Wishes #2) by G.J. Walker-Smith

Second Hearts (The Wishes Series #2)Second Hearts by G.J. Walker-Smith
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

"Charli Blake's high tolerance for risk doesn't always work in her favour.
After a year of living out her dream of travelling the world, the sunny West African village of Kaimte would be her last stop.
She's bound for New York, in search of the boy she'd let go of long ago.
For Charli, nothing has changed. She's travelled thousands of miles but hasn't moved an inch. Adam Dรฉcarie still means everything to her.
But reality soon hits hard.
For Adam, everything has changed.
Memories of the best love she's ever known is all she has left, until Charli makes a shocking discovery. None of it had ever been real in the first place."

This book needs to come with a warning have a box of tissues handy. My second heart has turned black, I was left completely heartbroken after finishing this book.
It had some lovely beautiful moments, but then there were some heartbreaking tears streaming down your face moments too, not to mention the moments where I wanted to go all ninja on someones butt. I can barely see through the tears to write this review. I will be impatiently waiting for the next instalment to be released.

P.S I was right on my guess of who Elvis was... Just call me Mrs Marple.

Saving Wishes (Wishes #1) by G.J. Walker-Smith

Saving Wishes (The Wishes, #1)Saving Wishes by G.J. Walker-Smith
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"For Charli Blake, being seventeen is a tough gig.
She's been branded a troublemaker, her reputation is in tatters and she's stuck in Pipers Cove, a speck of a town on the coast of Tasmania.
Thankfully, it's temporary. Her lifelong dream of travelling the world is just months away from becoming reality. All she has to do is ride out the last few months of high school, which is easier said than done thanks to a trio of mean girls known as The Beautifuls.
When Adam Dรฉcarie arrives in town, all the way from New York, life takes an unexpected turn. His arrival sets off a chain of events that alters her life forever, convincing her of one thing. Fate brought him to her.
Saving Wishes is the story of a girl who doesn't quite fit the life she's living, and the boy who helps her realise why."

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were fab, the story line good, the big twist a huge shock, the sad bits were heartbreaking. I am really looking forward to reading book #2 in the series.

I highly recommend this book.
