Review: Unspoken Vow (Steele Brothers #2) by Eden Finley

Author: Eden Finley
Book: Unspoken Vow
Series: Steele Brothers (#2)
Genre: MM Romance

𝙃𝙚’𝙨 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙧𝙪𝙣 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢.

There’s a long list of things I don’t handle well:
Change.
Relationships.
Breakups.

But there’s one person above everything else I can’t seem to get a handle on.
𝘉𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘞𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦.

In short, he’s perfect. The reality, he scares me.He’s the opposite of what I usually go for. He’s bigger. Intimidating. He reminds me of someone I’d rather forget.

When I need to find a new place to live, Brody offers me his spare room, but I have no plans on taking him up on the offer. He doesn’t know what happened to me five years ago, and I want to keep it that way.But with limited options, I find myself outside his apartment holding a full moving box and wondering: How can I do this without exposing the darkest part of my past?

I’m at a loss for where to start. This story was heartfelt, a little angsty and so amazing. You could tell it came from the true heart of this author because it felt so real.

Anders! He’s been through so much bad stuff and is obviously suffering from many mental health issues because of it. Although I haven’t had the same bad experiences as him I have very similar mental health symptoms so I connected with him so much and my heart really hurt for both him and Brody. A hell of a lot.

Brody! He was like an angel sent from the heavens. He was truely selfless and wanted nothing more than to shower Anders in love and help him heal in anyway he could.

Although this may be fiction, this story came from a place of truth and it gave me hope that although it takes work, and everyday won’t be a good day, some days will be. You can fight your demons if you really want to, you just need a support system and the will to do it.

I’m pretty new to Lila Rose’s bikers, although I have read all of her RomCom’s. I read Out of the Blue when that was released and knew I needed to grab her biker books because those characters that I only got a snippet of really appealed to me. We got to see a fair bit of Gamer in Out of the Blue so when I heard he was getting a novella I was certain I had to read it. Gamer and Nancy’s connection was believable. Nancy’s worries and guilt made sense and Gamer’s understanding was so heartwarming. I want a Gamer of my own.

Blurb

At forty, Lan Davis is looking for his damned picket fence and 2.5 kids. What he doesn’t expect is instead of a wife in the picture, his mind keeps conjuring up images of two men. One, his partner in the force, who is as straight as they came, the other an ex, who he’d hurt but never forgot.

5 of 5 stars

I will start by saying I’m yet to read a Lila Rose book that I don’t like.

This is the first book connected to her MC world that I’ve read and I’m definitely kicking myself for not having read those. This is labeled as a stand-alone but I think I would have understood/connected to her side characters a lot more if I had read their stories. Although in saying that, it just means I’m going to have to go back and read them all now.
Lan, Easton and Parker... those guys each have their own issues and that makes them all the more real. It was a slow burn but they needed that and the storyline was fantastic so I didn’t even realise it was a slow burn until things started happening.

I loved this book and look forward to reading more about the Hawks MC. It’s been a couple of days since I finished reading this and I still can’t stop thinking about these characters.

My Review

5 of 5 Stars.

I loved all the previous books of this series, but this one blows them all out of the water. It packs a heartbreaking punch but it's done beautifully.

Kate McCarthy really has outdone herself this time. She writes the best femle characters and Mac is the fiercest of them all.
I can't wait to get my hands on whatever book Ms McCarthy decides to write next.

Shiloh by GJ Walker-Smith

Shiloh (Wishes, #6)
*** Standalone Novel***

Here’s what I know about Shiloh Jenson:
She is up to no good.
Every word out of her mouth is a lie.
And I'm madly in love with her.

The call of the sea had always been deafening for Mitchell Tate, which is why Kaimte, a small coastal town in West Africa, was the perfect place for him.

Brilliant surf conditions conjured up by the South Atlantic Ocean was the drawcard, and the laid-back lifestyle suited him to a tee.

But even paradise has a dark side.
When fellow Australian Shiloh Jenson arrives in town, his eyes are opened to a much seedier side of village life.

Shiloh has a hidden agenda, and whether he likes it or not, Mitchell is along for the ride.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Over the time I've been reading her books, I've come to adore GJ Walker-Smith's characters and writing style. When we first met Mitchell as a side character in Saving Wishes I knew he was going to be one to steal a little place in my heart. I've waiting rather impatiently for more from him and it was so worth the wait.

Even though we met Mitchell in a previous book this book can be read as a standalone, I can't guarantee you won't be left wanting more of GJ Walker-Smith's heart touching writing and feel the need to go back and read the earlier books of the series.

Shiloh is a kick arse female and I love strong female characters. In fact I'm thinking my New Years resolution will be - to be kick arse like Shiloh.

This book had heaps of suspense and actually had me guessing right to the end, which is not easily done as I often find Who-Dun-It's predictable.

I don't know what GJ Walker-Smith plans to write next but I do know I'll be first in line to buy it.

Beneath The Stain by Amy Lane

Beneath the Stain
In a town as small as Tyson, CA, everybody knew the four brothers with the four different fathers-- and their penchant for making good music when they weren't getting into trouble. For Mackey Sanders, playing in Outbreak Monkey with his brothers and their friends—especially Grant Adams--made Tyson bearable. But Grant has plans for getting Mackey and the Sanders boys out of Tyson, even if that means staying behind.

Between the heartbreak of leaving Grant and the terrifying, glamorous life of rock stardom, Mackey is adrift and sinking fast. When he's hit rock bottom, Trav Ford shows up, courtesy of their record company and a producer who wants to see what Mackey can do if he doesn't flame out first. But cleaning up his act means coming clean about Grant, and that's not easy to do or say. Mackey might make it with Trav's help--but Trav's not sure he's going to survive falling in love with Mackey.

Mackey James Sanders comes with a whole lot of messy, painful baggage, and law-and-order Trav doesn't do messy or painful. And just when Trav thinks they may have mastered every demon in Mackey's past, the biggest, baddest demon of all comes knocking.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really have no idea how to do this book justice with a review. Amy Lane has outdone herself with this one.

I can't recommend this book enough. Honestly everyone has to read this, they need to go through the pain that this beautiful story causes.

Every character in this story will steal a place in your heart. When they are suffering - it's an Amy Lane book, they will suffer - you will want to pull them into a loving embrace and give them the comfort and protection they need. You'll want to knock out the characters that are causing them pain.

One character deals with cancer in this book and Ms Lane does a wonderful job of that. It is so realistic and anyone who has watched a loved one suffer through this terrible illness will be right back there beside that loved ones hospital bed.

This book with all its pain and angst will tear you apart, but it's love and beauty will glue you back together again.

Star Promise (Wishes #7) by GJ Walker-Smith

Star Promise (Wishes, #5)
After three blissful years of living in Pipers Cove, Adam and Charli head back to the bright lights of New York.
Taking on a position at a Manhattan gallery turns out to be Charli’s dream job, but just a few weeks after starting at his father’s firm, Adam realises that practising law is his worst nightmare.
Biding his time is the plan. Charli has wanderlust in her soul and he’s hopeful that sooner or later, she’ll want to go home.
Riding it out isn’t hard. They’re as close as they’ve ever been and every spare minute is spent hanging out with their precious little girl.
Life is good – until it’s not.
When fate throws them one nasty curveball after another, Charli’s confidence is shattered and her heart is broken. After weeks of trying to make sense of the grief she’s feeling, both realise she’s out of her depth.
Getting out of Dodge is Charli’s preferred MO and she doesn’t disappoint, finally deciding that it’s time to leave New York.
Returning to Pipers Cove is not the quick fix they were hoping for.
Some things just can’t be mended, and the way she deals with that is going to change everything.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Star Promise is the beautiful end to the most magical series I've ever read. GJ wraps everything up with nice little bow. I adore GJ Walker-Smith and her characters. I've followed Charli through her journey from the very beginning and I have loved every minute of it. I'm sad to see it end and secretly hope we'll see more from the Wishes world in the future... Psst, GJ, Alex is my favourite. ;)
Jean-Luc has been one of the hardest characters to like, always berating Charli for her tales and calling them none sense. He finally won me over in this story, which is good because I didn't want to hate him forever.
Adam had won me over in Secret North, because I was never a fan of him either, his early Jerk tendencies had stuck with me. It was so nice to see him win me over again in Star Promise. Star promise runs during the timeframe of Secret North. It was great to finally see what was bothering Charli and Adam through that time.
I've loved this series immensely and look forward to whatever GJ decides to write next.

Winter Wolf was a fantastic Young Adult read, definitely worthy of 5 stars. The characters are easy to connect with and pretty relatable. The story is action packed from the get go. It had a Romeo and Juliet vibe that I loved. Having read some of Ms Raithby's other books I can confidently say I enjoy her writing style. I am looking forward to reading more of this series.

I've being reading books for as long as I can remember but I never thought about writing until I read Nalini Singh - Slave to sensation which is the first book in her psy-changling series.

At first I just wrote fan fiction until one morning I woke up with a story of my own. Lincoln and Lexia were born! I spent 6 solid months writing and re-writing and now their story is out in the world and I am currently working on the final book Holocaust due 2015.

After the birth of my 3rd child I wrote Winter Wolf a YA Paranormal Novel which is due for Release in November.

I have lived in England, New Zealand and currently live in QLD Australia but to me England will always be home.

I've been a dish washer, Admin assistant, horse groom and now spend my days looking after my 3 children and writing as often as I can.
