Review: Unspoken Vow (Steele Brothers #2) by Eden Finley

Author: Eden Finley
Book: Unspoken Vow
Series: Steele Brothers (#2)
Genre: MM Romance

𝙃𝙚’𝙨 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙧𝙪𝙣 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢.

There’s a long list of things I don’t handle well:
Change.
Relationships.
Breakups.

But there’s one person above everything else I can’t seem to get a handle on.
𝘉𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘞𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦.

In short, he’s perfect. The reality, he scares me.He’s the opposite of what I usually go for. He’s bigger. Intimidating. He reminds me of someone I’d rather forget.

When I need to find a new place to live, Brody offers me his spare room, but I have no plans on taking him up on the offer. He doesn’t know what happened to me five years ago, and I want to keep it that way.But with limited options, I find myself outside his apartment holding a full moving box and wondering: How can I do this without exposing the darkest part of my past?

I’m at a loss for where to start. This story was heartfelt, a little angsty and so amazing. You could tell it came from the true heart of this author because it felt so real.

Anders! He’s been through so much bad stuff and is obviously suffering from many mental health issues because of it. Although I haven’t had the same bad experiences as him I have very similar mental health symptoms so I connected with him so much and my heart really hurt for both him and Brody. A hell of a lot.

Brody! He was like an angel sent from the heavens. He was truely selfless and wanted nothing more than to shower Anders in love and help him heal in anyway he could.

Although this may be fiction, this story came from a place of truth and it gave me hope that although it takes work, and everyday won’t be a good day, some days will be. You can fight your demons if you really want to, you just need a support system and the will to do it.

I really enjoyed getting to know these characters and their story. It was a light easy read and sometimes that is just what you need. The witty banter between Shaun and Mitch was delightful. I'm really looking forward to reading more from this author because this her writing style was just my cup of tea.

Becca Seymour lives and breathes all things book related. Usually with at least three books being read and two WiPs being written at the same time, life is merrily hectic. She tends to do nothing by halves so happily seeks the craziness and busyness life offers.

Living on her small property in Queensland with her human family as well as her animal family of cows, chooks, and dogs, Becca appreciates the beauty of the world around her and is a believer that love truly is love.

Did you know the medical term for a butt crack is intergluteal cleft?

My name is Reagan, and spouting random facts like this one at inopportune moments is my affliction. I’m chronically awkward, socially inept and completely lack a filter. Believe it or not, men do not find these attractive traits.

When my sexy-as-sin neighbour barges into my apartment at the arse crack of dawn, everything changes. For some strange reason, my brand of crazy doesn’t send him running for the hills. Instead, he settles in for a nap on my couch…

Oh, and did I mention he was completely naked?

This was a fun and easy read. I loved the characters; Reagan was so easy to relate to—I think we all have our quirky ways, and Rhett was pretty damn sexy. It was a great storyline and had everything a Rom Com should. This was my first JB Heller book and I'm now left wondering why I hadn't read anything from her sooner. I can't wait to work my way through the rest of her books.

Release Blitz: Blindsided (Fake Boyfriend #4) by Eden Finley

Release Date: March 20, 2019
Cover Design: Kellie Dennis / Book Cover by Design

Synopsis

𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫:
When Talon left to play pro ball six years ago, the hole in my chest confused me. I focused my heartache into making my own NFL dreams come true, and by the time I was drafted, the longing I had for my best friend was buried deep. Now he wants everything to be like it was in college, but we can’t have threesomes and be reckless like we once were. The media storm would be enough to break both our careers. That’s not my biggest concern though. The torch I had for him burns brighter after so long apart, and there’s nothing I can do about it. Marcus Talon is straight. I need to stay away from him. 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧: Years ago, Miller and I made a pact that we’d win a Super Bowl together. When I’m offered a position on his team in Chicago, I don’t hesitate. I move across the country to chase a dream that’s a decade old. Only, now that I’m here, he’s avoiding me every chance he gets. If he was anyone else, I’d cut my losses. But this is Shane Miller—the guy who makes everything better just by existing in my universe. The guy I’d do anything for. The guy who’s more to me than a brother, a friend, or even a teammate. I’m not going to let him get away.

With each book of the fake boyfriend series I find myself becoming more and more invested in this group of athletes. The morning I finished this book I should have been getting the kids ready for school... I'm pretty sure everyone got lunches.
I absolutely FLOVED this story and that's saying a hell of a lot because I wasn't one of those fans that was super excited about getting Talon and Miller's story. I don't know what it was but I just wasn't. Maybe it's because I fell for Noah in Trick Play and didn't think anyone could out do him as a character. Well except maybe Jet...now he's a character I'm looking forward to hear more about.
Anyway, back to Talon and Miller. They give me all the feels. Their insecurities showed and I loved that about them. I can't say much more without spoilers so all I'm gonna say is... read it. You won't regret it.

Author: Lila Rose
Genre: Romance

Blurb

At forty, Lan Davis is looking for his damned picket fence and 2.5 kids. What he doesn’t expect is instead of a wife in the picture, his mind keeps conjuring up images of two men. One, his partner in the force, who is as straight as they came, the other an ex, who he’d hurt but never forgot.

After an incident leaves Lan injured, the two men rally around him… only maybe they shouldn’t have. It seems a medicated Lan is a truthful one.

Parker Wilding is pissed at the world. His anger builds when his partner refuses medical care after an attack. Instead, Lan entrusts his neighbour to take care of him—a guy Parker doesn’t trust. While he’s aware they share a history, when the past is revealed, the truth shocks the hell out of him.

Being emotionally crushed ten years ago, Easton Ravel hoped he would never have to see the man who broke him again. Hope is a fickle b*itch. I will start by saying I’m yet to read a Lila Rose book that I don’t like.

This is the first book connected to her MC world that I’ve read and I’m definitely kicking myself for not having read those. This is labeled as a stand-alone but I think I would have understood/connected to her side characters a lot more if I had read their stories. Although in saying that, it just means I’m going to have to go back and read them all now.
Lan, Easton and Parker... those guys each have their own issues and that makes them all the more real. It was a slow burn but they needed that and the storyline was fantastic so I didn’t even realise it was a slow burn until things started happening.

I loved this book and look forward to reading more about the Hawks MC. It’s been a couple of days since I finished reading this and I still can’t stop thinking about these characters.
Author Bio

Lila was born in Brisbane Australia, her step-dad was in the Army which caused them to move around a lot. They finally settled in country Victoria, Australia. Being the youngest of four children she admits she was spoilt a bit. Even drove her mum crazy when she refused to eat meat at a young age.

Now, Lila lives with her husband and two children.

Elliot
My career took focus in my life while trying to make a name for myself in a male dominated field. I kept my gender under wraps until I was able to let my expertise speak for itself. But I was knocked off my axis when I ran into Arden, the man I had compared all men to since our one night together. Now he was taken—by another man—a very dominant man.

Arden
The love I had for my man ran deep. But I’d never forgotten her. From the very beginning, Daimen and I agreed to our non-traditional life—two men loving one another until we found that woman we could claim as ours. Now, she was standing in front of me, unaware she was a marked woman.

Daimen
I had loved my best friend from an early age. The day Arden submitted to me, was a dream come true. That was until a sexy and sassy blonde entered our life and turned it upside down. I see something in her that scared me. But I would make her mine, mine and Arden’s. Claiming hatred would follow us everywhere, Elliot fought us at every turn.

Initially I was a little worried about whether I would like Elliot joining Arden and Damien's relationship because they were a   strong and committed couple. I didn't see the need for another person to be added. But once they met and I got to know each of the characters I saw how they worked as a whole. I really liked each of the main characters, they were all strong and had good qualities about them. After enjoying this story, I'll be certain to look for more from this author.

Excerpt

(Daimen's POV)
I woke suddenly to Arden’s touch. “I need you so fucking much, right now, honey.”

Arden’s grin told me exactly what he wanted—pure fucking. I took him by the hand and led him to the couch that was in our room close to the foot of the bed. “Thank fuck! I told you I wanted to partake in a little bit of voyeurism.”

“You’re a dirty man, you know, and I can’t get enough of you.” Arden grinned. I took the lube next to the end table by our couch. “You’re my life, Daimen. It’ll always be you and me,” he said, holding my face. “And when Elliot is ours, my love for you won’t change, but seeing you the way you were with her tonight will make me love you more—kind and sweet and so not like the hardass I fell in love with.”

“Oh, you’re a sweet-talker, aren’t you?” I goaded, pushing his body against the couch. With one thrust, his moan elicited a desire to go deeper and explore every part of him. “You feel so good. Fuck.” My movements increased, but I had to let loose—it was going to be one of those nights between us. Circling one hand around him, I stroked his cock fast. My teeth sank into his skin, a little love bite that caused him to grow against my touch. Arden loved it rough like that.

“Mark me, bite me, hurt me—I’m yours.” The sound of rustling sheets had Arden whipping his head back. “Um, babe, I think we have company,” he interjected, his eyes, following the shadow behind us.

With the thought of Ell watching me, it took me no time to find the sweet spot in my man. With one last thrust, I came so hard, and it set off Arden too. With both of us working through our orgasms, I brought Arden with me as I turned to Ell. “Beautiful, you okay?” I asked, casually, in the hopes that we didn’t send her running for the hills. "Ell, I hope we didn’t scare you.”

“You guys are beautiful making love to one another,” she simply stated. “You love each other so much, that’s obvious, but seeing it like this, wow.”

Bringing Arden into an embrace one last time and kissing him on his neck, I let go of him, closing the space between Ell and myself. Holding her close to my naked body, I asked, “It didn’t freak you out?”

Review: Payback's a Bitch by Missy Johnson

Title: Payback's A Bitch
Series: Awkward Love #6
Author: Missy Johnson
Genre: Romance
Release Date: August 27, 2018

Blurb

I’m the girl who likes ‘the cock in the back hole’

At least, that’s what the dating profile my so-called friends set up for me claims. I’m also into BDSM, Furries and ‘I’ll try anything twice.’

I have no idea the profile exists until the replies start rolling in. They range from funny, to downright creepy and everything in between. Just as I’m shutting down my email account for good, a new message pops up.

He’s funny and he's the only one to suspect the profile is a joke, so I think what the hell? I reply.

When he suggests that we meet, I say yes. When I walk into that bar, he's sitting at a table, facing the other way. He turns his head just enough for me to be able to make out his face…

Fuck.

It’s Cameron Hunter, one of the rudest, most arrogant assholes I’ve ever had the displeasure of meeting.

He's also the son of one of the state's most influential judges.

The same judge who's about to become my step-father...

Review

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received an unedited ARC in return for a review.

I loved the premise of the story and liked the characters personas. The initial prank mentioned in the blurb was hilarious and I even liked the following prank.

Unfortunately when there were more pranks after those I just felt it got a little out of hand and wasn’t needed. I would have rather seen more of a real connection between the two characters. The extra pranks left me wondering what was real feelings and what wasn’t.

There were some major editing issues, including plot holes but seeing as I read an unedited ARC I’m assuming those will have been corrected for the final released copy. So I haven’t rated the book with those in mind.
